If you are a beginner to crypto there's a good chance that you signed up to Coinbase, as they have managed to amass over 100 million users from around the world. While Coinbase is a great, easy-to-use exchange for buying and selling crypto, KuCoin is the much better option when it comes to trading (as you can see in our comparison article).

KuCoin has much lower trading fees, and is built for experienced and frequent traders, with plenty of options available. You will find margin trading, free trading bots, P2P marketplace, and more. So how do you transfer your crypto from Coinbase to KuCoin and begin your trading journey?

We will show you the steps you need to follow, with screenshots along the way so you will have no issues transferring crypto from Coinbase to KuCoin.

The Process: Transferring crypto from Coinbase to KuCoin

It will only take 5 steps to send crypto from Coinbase to your KuCoin account. We have a brief outline here, followed by our in-depth guide.

Step 1: Create a KuCoin account

Step 2: Obtain the wallet address for the deposit

     Step 3: Sign into Coinbase

Step 4: Enter your crypto withdrawal details

Step 5: Check that your crypto has arrived in your KuCoin account

Step 1: Create a KuCoin account

Some of you may already have a KuCoin account. If so, you can sign in and then jump straight to Step 2.

If you haven't registered with KuCoin before, click here which will take you to KuCoin's official site, and then sign up using either your email or phone number.

You may need to verify your email or phone number before you complete your registration. Once that is finished, we are ready to move onto Step 2.

Step 2: Obtain the wallet address for the deposit

It's time to obtain the wallet address in KuCoin, for the cryptocurrency you want to transfer from Coinbase.

Click on 'Assets' in the top right corner of the site, and a dropdown menu will appear. Click on 'Deposit' at the bottom of that menu.

You will be directed to the Deposit Crypto page, like the one below. Choose the cryptocurrency you wish to transfer to KuCoin, and the relevant network. In this guide we will be transferring USDT (ERC20), since it is the most commonly traded coin on KuCoin.

After you have selected the coin and the network, you will see the wallet address appear, which is a long string of letters and numbers (covered by the blue rectangle in screenshot below). Copy this wallet address as we will need it to transfer our crypto from Coinbase.

Step 3: Sign into Coinbase

The next step is to log in to Coinbase, then click 'Send & Receive' to start the transfer process from Coinbase to KuCoin.

Step 4: Enter your crypto withdrawal details

A pop-up will appear on your screen, check that you are in the 'Send' tab (see blue circle below) so you can transfer from Coinbase.

In the 'Asset' field, click on the dropdown arrow and select which coin you are going to transfer (see red arrow below). Above this, you will see a field where you can type in how much you wish to transfer to KuCoin.

Below the 'Asset' field, you will see the 'To' field. This is where you paste the wallet address that we copied from KuCoin earlier. When you have entered that correctly, click on 'Continue'.

Now you need to review your transaction details, including the amount, the coin, network, and wallet address. Once you have checked that all, complete the transfer.

Step 5: Check your crypto has arrived in your KuCoin account

You might have to wait a few minutes before your crypto transfers from Coinbase to KuCoin. To check whether your funds have arrived, click on 'Assets' in the top right corner, and then click 'Overview'.

Now you will see the Assets Overview page. In our screenshot below the account values are hidden for privacy purposes, but in your account you should see your balance has increased, if your transfer has been successfully made.

If you can see your crypto has arrived in your KuCoin account, then you can start trading, as you desire.

Conclusion

Once you have your crypto on KuCoin you can begin trading and making profit. However, keep in mind that you are not able to sell your crypto for fiat currency on KuCoin, nor can you withdraw money from the platform.

If you want to withdraw from KuCoin, you can follow the steps in this article, or simply transfer the crypto back to Coinbase and convert it to fiat there.
