Best Crypto Trading Bots (Free & Paid) in 2021

KuCoin - Best option for beginners

KuCoin is an exchange but they provide their customers a free trading bot which is integrated into their app.

Although its basic, I recommend beginners start with the KuCoin trading bot for six reasons:

  1. Its free
  2. KuCoin provides the parameters of the most successful bots so you can just copy them
  3. KuCoin has some of the lowest trading fees in the world
  4. Get access to a great community where people share strategies
  5. Currently the KuCoin bot has limited options meaning its great to learn with
  6. KuCoin has a large userbase which means their markets are deep with lots of liquidity.

Once you want to implement more complex strategies maybe then graduate to more complex bots (see options below).

The KuCoin trading bot currently offers two strategies, dollar cost averaging and grid trading. But they have plans to add more strategies and capabilities soon so by the end of this year I expect this to rival other bots on the market.

So what exactly are the capabilities of this bot? So you start off by choosing your trading pair (eg: btc/eth), KuCoin offers hundreds of pairs, I always choose a pair that includes the stable coin USDT which reduces my volatility. Then you choose the range in which you want your bot to trade, for example if you choose the lower end of your range to be $10 and the upper end to be $20 the bot would stop buying when the price is below $10 and stop selling when its above $20. Then you need to specify how many orders you want your bot to place at any one time, I usually choose around 50. This means the bot will set out to make roughly 25 buy orders and corresponding sell orders. After that you need to specify your total investment, I recommend you start small if you're a beginner, around $50.

And that's it, you just click create and it gets to work instantly. To learn more about KuCoin read our full review of their exchange here.

3Commas

Another automated trading bot that is new to the market but is already making a name for itself would be 3Commas. The bot relies on the Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) strategy to mitigate the common volatility aspects associated with crypto trading. 3Commas’ trailing stop feature opens up the user’s position and keeps it open only while the asset’s price begins to rise and continues to be on the up. The moment the user’s target asset begins to decline, the user’s position will be closed off automatically. Why this feature is such a hit is because it allows even novice traders to maximize the volatility of an unexpected and sudden bull market.

Some of its other important features can be highlighted as follows:

  • It supports as many as 20 trading exchanges
  • 3Commas has support for a much wider range of currencies than the average trading bot
  • The cloud-powered app also offers beginner-friendly tools such as paper trading to learn about and test out customized trading strategies
  • SmartTrading for expert traders allows users to trade from all supported exchanges via the unified intuitive interface
  • Partnership with CryptoTrader.Tax enables automated, hassle-free tax reporting

Fees

  • Initial 3-days of free trial (Pro) which includes all features mentioned and more
  • After the trial period, users can choose to pay between $22, $37 or $75 per month, depending on their needs
  • 15% or 25% discounts are offered on all packages if the user pays for 6-months or 12-months respectively
  • Market signals are sold separately by 3Commas and they are not included in any of the packages

Zignaly

Although Zignaly might be a new name in the market as a trading terminal, the company has vast experience and a well-established reputation in crypto trading all the same. The thing is that Zignaly already was one of the leading providers of crypto trading signals long before they decided to launch their fully featured combination of trading bot app + trading platform. We will check what the company has done to make itself stand out among the competition next:

  • Paper trading features to help newcomers learn the business of crypto trading
  • Copy trading with designated trading bots to seamlessly copy the target trader in almost real time
  • Trading platform integrated with very limited multi-exchange support unfortunately
  • Easy to use UI with tutorial integrations for beginners

Fees

Supported Exchanges:

  • Binance
  • KuCoin

Kryll

If you are looking for a trading bot and platform that will allow you to create very personalized, unique trading strategies of your own, look no further than Kryll. Their drag-and-drop graphical user interface is intuitive, detailed, and surprisingly easy to operate for even intermediate users. Perhaps the best part about Kryll is the fact that anyone can use the application to learn and create a basic trading strategy for free, complete with demo trades for better understanding. However, you will need to pay for their services if you wish to use that strategy or any other for actual crypto trading with real money.

Kryll software has a marketplace which must be mentioned here, because it allows advanced crypto traders to make their own customized trading strategies available in the market. You will earn commissions from every profitable trade, alongside the general fees from every user just for copying your trading strategy.

Fees

  • Users pay in KRL tokens per trade (pay-per-use), which is variable
  • As much as 20% of the user’s Binance transaction fees could be waived off if they use Kryll

  • Binance.us
  • HitBTC
  • Bitstamp
  • KuCoin
  • Kraken
  • Liquid
  • Bittrex

The British company is fairly new to the market, but they have already made a decent name for themselves with an intuitive UI design, a proper, free-trial period and a beginner-friendly approach to the whole idea of designing personalized trading strategies. Powered by a comprehensive tutorial section, clever use of easy-to-decipher terms and a visually attractive UI, Coinrule is arguably the most accessible crypto trading bot and strategy designer available today. Let us go through a few basic elements of the app’s design and implementation next:

  • In Coinrule, trade orders are called “Rules” for easier understanding, because that is essentially what they are
  • The “Rule Page” is Coinrule’s trading strategy development section
  • The IFFTT (If-This-Then-That) logic used here to help newcomers develop trading strategies is also an excellent tutorial in itself
  • The above method intuitively teaches you how to implement Conditions and Actions, while developing your bot’s trading strategy
  • Coding expertise, or even experience in trading is not necessary to use Coinrule at all

Fees

  • The free trial includes 1 real trade with a maximum of 2 rules
